The evidence is anecdotal, not proof -- it's just a list -- but it is the latest indication why Florida State was voted to win the Atlantic Coast Conference championship in the preseason media poll and why the Seminoles remain the primary roadblock to the Miami Hurricanes' return to national prominence.

ESPN's annual national ranking of the top 50 players in college football by a panel of 19 experts features five FSU players including the No. 1 overall, while UM has none.

eminoles listed are safety Derwin James No. 1, quarterback Deondre Francois 11th, defensive end Josh Sweat 24th, cornerback Tarvarus McFadden 25th and defensive tackle Derrick Nnadi 50th.

Oddly (based on the top 50 disparity), Miami had more players named to the preseason All-ACC team than did FSU, 4-3. The Noles placed James, McFadden and center Alec Eberle, while the Canes placed receiver Ahmmon Richards, running back Mark Walton, linebacker Shaquille Quarterman and placekicker Michael Badgley. That may not accurately speak of overall talent, though. FSU had 22 different players draw 725 total All-ACC votes, while Miami had 14 players draw 441 votes.
