If it's a V6 it has to be twin turbo Ecoboost motor kinda like what they put in the F-150.

EXPLORER WENT THAT ROUTE ALREADY. 3.5L ECOBOOST IS DESTROYING THE 5.0 RIGHT NOW. THE 6.2L IN THE RAPTOR IS BEING REPLACED BY IT TOO. SAD DAY FOR V8'S.
The word "Eco" in EcoBoost is a total joke. Either meaning economical or eco-friendly. Turbo-charging a smaller engine can get you the same HP and or torque as a larger engine, so you think, "smaller engine, less gasoline". But, to achieve, the same power, you have to floor it. Then you get the boost, squirts in more gas, more power. The only eco savings is during idle. 
There is some minor weight savings if you compare a V8 engine to a V6 with turbo. The V6 is a bit lighter. Less weight to haul, more gas savings. It's very minute though when you talk about SUVs total weight.

3.5L CAN PUT OUT THE POWER THAT THE 5.0 DOES BUT DELIVERS FUEL ECONOMY WHEN YOU AREN'T HAULING. IT IS A HYBRID SOLUTION FOR PEOPLE WHO USE WORK TRUCKS FOR PERSONAL USE.
IT IS KINDA LIKE ACTIVE FUEL MANAGEMENT IN DODGE AND GM TRUCKS. TWO CYLINDERS SHUT DOWN WHEN YOU REACH CRUISING SPEED.
ALSO WITH THE SMALLER ENGINE YOU GET LESS WEIGHT. SOMETHING AFM CANNOT PROVIDE. US AUTO MAKERS HAVE A DEADLINE TO REACH BY 2024. THEY HAVE TO GET FUEL ECONOMY UP INTO THE 50MPG RANGE. FUEL MANAGEMENT ALONE ISN'T THE ANSWER. VEHICLE NEED TO SHED WEIGHT. ALUMINUM BODIES IS HAPPENING FOR THIS REASON.
