Just weeks after Soulja Boy announced he had inked a $400 million deal, World Poker Fund Holdings has come forth to confirm the blockbuster agreement that everyone was wondering about.
According to a press release, the publicly traded gaming company has partnered with the “Superman” MC for a five-year, nine-figure endorsement contract. Officials say they plan to promote the company’s online services through Soulja Boy’s social media accounts, which boast more than 15 million followers. It’s a trend that is becoming increasingly popular, as more and more businesses are shelving conventional advertising methods in favor of celebrities' social media posts.
“The world of marketing is changing, today’s biggest influencers are not brands, but individuals who create content that drive loyalty and brand sentiment,” WPFH’s spokesperson Matthew Bird said in the press release. “Soulja Boy represents the best of the best and we are already seeing the impact from his presence.”
The endorsement deal will be one of the biggest a rapper has landed, and will solidify Soulja Boy as one of the top moguls in the game—a pretty impressive feat for a 25-year-old.
“I invest in things I understand. I enjoy music, and of course gaming. Being an influencer is a form of currency,” Soulja Boy explained in the press release. “Having portfolio diversification is critical if you want to be an effective brand ambassador. With regards to World Poker Fund, I believe in its strategy, its team, the vision, and management’s ability to target its financial goals.”
