It's what I said years ago...
The MAJORS WANT IT all.. They want the whole pie..
Especially those DIY platforms like Soundcloud and others...
They don't want these streaming services compensating INDY artists unless THEY (Sony.. Universal. .warner) can eat off them
Also This Soundcloud "deal" is giving me flashbacks of the horrible situation myself and one of my artists was involved in at Tunecore once Universal merged their infrastructure with them..
Just like Soundcloud the payment of royalties became very difficult to obtain much less comprehend...
As well as the payment plan itself
Within this Soundcloud contract they have the right to change the royalty rate at any given time and the payment plan from weekly to mostly or quarterly just on a whim
It's downright disrespectful
Along with the fact they prevent you from collecting roytalites on work you already submitted before the deal or others might have uploaded without your consent
So their not even trying to protect your intellectual property and YOU CANT EVEN SUE THEM
Read it and weep
