They can change terms of the deal anytime they want, pay you whenever they want, and you can’t sue them

Gangsta!

Most notably, SoundCloud’s agreement includes the broad release of all claims against the company (called a “covenant not to sue”) and a mandatory arbitration clause. Artists who sign this agreement agree to never sue SoundCloud or even assist in someone else’s lawsuit against SoundCloud, and to take any disputes to arbitration instead of court.

You always got some good insight bro..

Anything you can add to that on the subject?

It's what I said years ago...

The MAJORS WANT IT all.. They want the whole pie..

Especially those DIY platforms like Soundcloud and others...

They don't want these streaming services compensating INDY artists unless THEY (Sony.. Universal. .warner) can eat off them

Also This Soundcloud "deal" is giving me flashbacks of the horrible situation myself and one of my artists was involved in at Tunecore once Universal merged their infrastructure with them..

Just like Soundcloud the payment of royalties became very difficult to obtain much less comprehend...

As well as the payment plan itself

Within this Soundcloud contract they have the right to change the royalty rate at any given time and the payment plan from weekly to mostly or quarterly just on a whim

It's downright disrespectful

Along with the fact they prevent you from collecting roytalites on work you already submitted before the deal or others might have uploaded without your consent

So their not even trying to protect your intellectual property and YOU CANT EVEN SUE THEM :damn:

Read it and weep

Does Spotify and SoundCloud own all the content uploaded to their service?
