This happened to me just now.

I could totally understand a Hurricane knocking out power but a run of the mill thunderstorm?

This happened to me in two separate states in the south over the years (FL and NC).

The Truth
Depends…

Rarely for me and we have hail, tornados, etc

Pretty much, places where the electrical is underground are usually fine (unless the underground terminals are daisy chained to some above ground)

I haven’t lived in Florida for a long time but my fam there rarely complain.

The storms overwhelm the infrastructure, not to mention all the power being used by those storms. Not gonna lie, I remember that we used to turn lights and power appliances off during thunderstorms because the storm surge might make the electronics not work anymore. I don’t know the science, but mama was right.

And our storms hit different. You might get 3 inches in one afternoon, and between that and the lightning, it’s a recipe for disaster.

Power companies should not be exempt from anti-monopoly laws, and if your power goes out, they should pay you. If the power goes out for a day or two, it could really mess up some household shyt

What u mean knock out power :mjtf:

How did we know if power was knocked out if big mama said turn them damn electronics off while its storming and dont turn em back on until Jesus say so

I used to hate that. Then a few years ago, there was a storm that was so loud, I got up and turned everything off, even tho I’m grown and was by myself :lupe:

I'm from Orlando. The power don't be going out like that unless a power line or something fall over. Which would happen like maybe 1 out of 15 storms. And the city/county would send someone to fix it usually.

Depending where you coming from that might be a lot I guess idk.

Cleaning up debris afterwards if you're in a home is the worst part to me.

Rarely experienced that in Texas & Louisiana. Not like shyt is a hurricane pulling up

Power more likely to cut out because of some random stupid shyt than a thunderstorm :unimpressed:
