I wouldn't doubt it. The media down South probably did give more attention to local and regional artists. 50 Cent and Eminem probably weren't as huge there or in NorCal as they were everywhere else.

Naw.

I can't speak on the South, but in California 50 was huge.

As a huge fan of NYC rap during the 2000's he was easily the most popular NY artist in California.

The Jacka, Husalah, San Quinn, E-40, Andre Nickatina, J. Stalin, Messy Marv, Mac Dre, etc were popular, but 50 was 50.

That would be true for artist like Nas, Jay, Jadakiss.

Somebody might be listening to any of the northern Cali artists over them out here.

I'm so tired of these southern mfers like Big Gipp and youtubers talking about what the south didn't listen to. I'm from the south and I was listening to NY hip hop since 1984. We all were!!!! We were listening to NY, midwest, west coast, and even southern artists as well. The only hip hop we didn't listen to was the hip hop that we didn't know about like the local cash money and No limit stuff in the early 90s, but if it was on Rap City or Yo, we listened to it. One of my homeboys in the military was from Arkansas and he was a Professor Griff fan like me. So these bama ass negroes need to stop the bullshyt
