EXCLUSIVE: Sony Pictures Animation is in early development on a Spider-Punk animated feature from co-writers Daniel Kaluuya (Judas and the Black Messiah) and Ajon Singh (Primetime), Deadline has learned.

Plot details are under wraps, and there are no other deals in place at this time. The natural assumption, of course, is that Kaluuya will reprise the role of Spider-Punk, which he played in 2023’s Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, from Sony Pictures Animation, and will reprise in the studio’s upcoming Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse.

I wonder how are they going to write his story? Part of that character's appeal is that he's always cool and unshaken. All good narratives are about the main character being in peril and vulnerable. How do you write a character like that to be vulnerable but still cool.

I mean that’s the protagonist of a lot of heist films so it’s not impossible
