Spike saved what? Denzel was winning Oscars long before Spike. Denzel brought back Spike's career when he was making phone sex movies. Same with inside men when Spike was irrelevant for years. Actually now that you mentioned it Deniro does owe his career to scorsese. He was able to mask Deniro's terrible acting with the roles he played in his movies
