Man, I've been a Will supporter my whole life but it seems like he's strictly staying in that blockbuster lane for the time being. Shame because when he's gone outside the box (Ali, Pursuit of Happiness, even Seven Pounds made bank) he's actually been pretty successful. I feel like movie-goers would kill for him to take on something controversial.
And for the record, I'm not mad at him for turning down Django, dude doesn't have to and shouldn't take every damn thing that comes his way, but it's about time for him to take on something edgy.
I really wish they had taken the Hancock concept further. From what I understand it was originally going to be this edgy, R-rated thing. You can still see glimpses of that within the film but for the most part it was just another average Superhero joint.
Of course, we don't really know exactly how deep he was in talks for this remake. I think it would be cool for him to work with Spike, but for all we know this could have been a studio decision (Or, any other number of valid reasons for him not to take this....if he was truly offered it at all).
