Both City of God and Godfather Part II were great films but I don't think it was a really good comparison. A better one should be Godfather Part II and Goodfellas.

Hmmm hard one. Menace is memories but city of God was one of the 1st movies where I actually paid full attention even though I don't know a lick of Portuguese.

I'll give the nod to city of gods.

Lmao. City of god Breh. Possibly the best film ever made.

City of God is a more compelling drama, it is a stronger film visually, and more dynamic in it's storytelling. What's notable is that despite the fact that it came out nine years later, it has a smaller budget than Menace II Society.

Also, for those who don't know, the only professional actor in City of God was the guy who played Carrot. Everyone else was actually from the slum.

Menace to Society is a classic hood movie, however no matter what movie you post up, NOTHING compares to City of God I don't care what anyone says. This is coming from someone who didn't know much about Brazil or the black population there at all and was thinking at the beginning scene where they were chasing the chicken, until being so captivated by the movie I ended up seeing it like six times. I'd never seen anything like it.
