Ive talked about this multiple times, and the recent wage and college thread brought this back to the forefront.
I want to ask you all, are we really asking for what we are worth as Black people? I have noticed that we tend to undervalue ourselves and settle for pay that is far below what it should be. I use my wife for example. She recently got promoted and is making more than she ever has. She often says that she never thought she would make this much.
This confuses and dissapoints me. She has her masters, tons of exp, lean six sigma, tons of certs. If you never thought you would make this much, wtf were all those qualifications for
???? Why go through all this work if your goal wasnt to make alot of money???
The stigma of asking someone else how much they make ONLY BENEFITS EMPLOYERS, NOT EMPLOYEES. I think if some of yall knew how much your white counterparts were making for the same job, you would never accept some of these postings.
I know i am greatly simplifying this, as other factors contribute to job choice, but we gotta force this issue more.
What do you guys think? You think this is an issue or am i overblowing this?
