When a man marries a woman in this current society, why are old values still holding true?

With all the women's empowerment taking place, why is the following still an accepted truth?

When a man gets married, man's money = family's money.

When a woman gets married, woman's money = woman's money.

Women are making more money than ever before, yet they still want to have secret, side and other accounts for themselves, but want free access to all of a man's earnings.

How do unmarried Coli friends feel about this? How do current Coli married friends deal with finances in the context of marriage and the changing realities of economic empowerment among women?
