If you go to a Tesla Factory or a Toyota Factory - there's raw materials, parts, machines, etc.
But Tesla makes far less cars but is worth far more than Toyota.
The valuation is kind of a shared fantasy.
And Elon's "billions" (like Bezos, Buffet, Zuckerberg, Oprah, Kanye, Jordan, Jay Z) - is also mostly fake.
"We" just all agree to it. Cause if their money is fake, the money I used to buy food is fake. The money they pay me is fake too.
However, if we've got tens of millions of people without housing, food, healthcare, and education - there's gotta be some type of break.

At some point, America pulls a Rwanda, grabs a machete and gets to hacking.
It happened in Nepal yesterday.
It's happening in Serbia.
It wont happen in america for this reason:
Custom reality.
The average american has unfettered access to social media. Social media can help you create a custom reality. You saw it during covid.
Millions of people didn't want to do anything to fight the virus. They literally wanted to just believe it didn't exist, and if it did, it wasn't that bad and if it was, the vaccine designed to keep it from killing or making people sick is actually worse.
It boiled down to people being asked to make a sacrifice(personal comfort around space, hygiene, and masks) and they lost their fukking minds. People made all sorts of sacrifices during the Spanish flu pandemic and two world wars, but the country that could do that is gone. Too many people are in the "fukk everyone else, what i want is more important" mindset. It affects everyone. It made Joe Rogan run to Austin and pretend to be a completely new person, it made elon musk freak out because he couldn't force his factory workers to put their lives at risk to make him more money he won't even spend.
These people coc00ned themselves in a digital echochamber where theyre always right, they're very smart, good at everything they try with minimal effort, nobody can trick them, they're heroic individuals that most of the world loves and the only people who criticize them do so because of envy or because theyre "woke"(which can mean whatever they want it to mean). They can just deny facts that don't fit into the custom reality they've designed for themselves and because a lot of real people who need real money are dependent on them, they'll go along with the delusion and incorporate it into their own lives.
This is a problem that other countries knew social media could cause, so they've restricted it purposefully, or they just don't have the infrastructure to make it as easily accessible as it is in america so its pure coincidence they arent going through the same thing. Now instead of sitting down, setting their phone cameras up and then monetizing their rage by becoming content creators or commenter's that immediately get a dopamine rush from being agreed with, these people instead go out into the street and unleash their rage.
For the kind of shyt that needs to happen with people getting activated and forcing change, I believe the following things will need to happen:
1. Unemployment and costs will become so high that millions of Americans lose access to the internet(whether in the form of phone plans with enough data becoming too expensive or internet itself as a privately owned utility becoming too expensive).
2. Social media monetization becomes too hard. The pool of competition in the attention economy becomes so bad that no stars really rise up and the ones that do, don't last. Its too many podcasts that all sound the same talking about the same topics, too many streamers talking about the same shyt, too many influencers talking about the same shyt, people unwilling to or unable to pay for only fans, patreon, etc. Making those career paths not lucrative enough.
3.People start spending more time talking in person and organizing.
Those 3 things will shatter the simulated reality that people build for themselves. It forces them to look around and realize that their custom reality is in fact, fake and has been nothing more than the spoonful of sugar that makes it harder to taste the poison that has seeped into americas economy, politics and culture. If americans are not horny, distracted, and having their revolutionary anger transformed into content for others to monetize and grow rich off of, theyll get activated. People need to experience deprivation and suffering that they can't ignore and rediscover what it means to be part of a real community. Until that happens, the most you can expect to happen is some protests, a few riots here and there and then...nothing.
Just like occupy wall st.
Just like the reaction to George Floyd's death.
Just like every public massacre from a deranged shooter.
And just like how protests and riots are doing nothing to stop ICE from continuing to snatch up people in broad daylight or stop soldiers from rolling into these cities to stand around and make sure ICE can do what it wants.
Things that people in other countries wouldn't tolerate are the norm here and it will stay that way unless enough Americans can no longer convince themselves that they're just one post, one podcast episode, one video essay, or one livestream away from making enough money to have the kind of financial security that people used to have in the 90s and early 2000s.
I'm optimistic because we are on track to that happening. Medicare cuts will mean millions of people will suffer and die. Raised prices will force millions to cancel their netflix, prime, HBO etc. Subscriptions. A.I. powered unemployment will force millions to stop buying the latest devices and force them into living situations where they dont have the distractions. Mass deportations will age the population as the young workers are forced out and the government's ability to be responsive to people's needs will diminish since the tax revenue is all going to ICE agents, subsidies for arms, tech and finance companies.
Big tech wants you to think theyre building a utopia, in reality they are turning america into a monumental tomb for themselves and they see us as the servants that are supposed to die with them and continue being their servants in the afterlife.
