Guy, that gave me my first job in my career. Was a former military breh, retired then went civilian and retired a gs15. Opened his own small minority business and has been doing that for a while.

No he not a billionaire or famous but I think he’s successful cuz he straight up told me he wanted to hire me to give young brothers a chance. Rose from humble beginnings to owning his own business and putting people on.

Above the fray.
Unfortunately, removing rappers and athletes is like removing 95% of a pie chart.

One of our biggest problems as a collective is having little to no control of the media, hence having little to no control of our own image.

Our kids can't aspire to be something that they never see.

If you limit a groups circumference of awareness, you limit their possibilities.
Doesn't apply as much in this generation. All kids and teens have smartphones.
They aren't limited in terms of media.

I think equating success with making a lot of money might be part of the problem. If you’re in your rebellious stage it’s hard for me to believe you’re going to look at an astronaut and be like, “I want what he has.”

I know you said leave parents out of this but they need to lay the foundation. My parents got me this series of books to read when I was a kid: All the Black Americans of Achievement S. Books in Order | Toppsta
