And my understanding is that smiling was some sambo shut look at old euroamerican pictures and paintings, the only people drawn to show teeth are black folks.

So smiling is associated with shucking and jiving, entertaining white folks. Safer not to show teeth.

And that's why that gif is racist.

I was making fun of Kanye taking himself too seriously but lol.
