Make low 50s now, but I lived off about that much for a few years. Had my own apartment and car too.

Living someplace with a lost cost of living :blessed:

What do you want to do? If you like computers/technology then consider getting your A+. You can get a job making 40k pretty easily with that one certification. I went from making 19k/yr to making 44k/yr after getting my certs.

Nah, you're probably not maknig 40k with an A+ and no experience. Not unless you live someplace with an inflated cost of living like NY/LA.

You can probably find an entry-level helpdesk job making 12-16/hr and work your way up though.

My first job was a help desk gig in Cincinnati, OH. I was making 40k.

40k with no actual IT experience or education? :wtf:

You must've gotten into the industry when the economy was good or just been in the right place/right time. Most entry level IT jobs I see are around $15/hr and they usually want either a degree or some experience.

There are Sys Admins barely making 40k. Hell, I have a degree and my first job out of college only paid 35k. Although that was in the recession. :heh:
