Miami Heat coach Erik Spoelstra tabs Chris Bosh as All-Star starter - ESPN

HOUSTON -- Taking the suspense out of the equation early, Miami Heat coach Erik Spoelstra has selected Chris Bosh as a replacement starter for the East team in Sunday's All-Star Game.

Spoelstra hinted two weeks ago that he would remain loyal to the Heat regarding any decisions he had to make in his first assignment as an All-Star coach.

Bosh will replace injured guard Rajon Rondo, who is recovering from season-ending knee surgery

All-Star starters are chosen through fan voting.

Bosh will start alongside Heat teammates Dwyane Wade and LeBron James, with Carmelo Anthony and Kevin Garnett.

There was a possibility that Spoelstra would have taken a conventional approach by replacing Rondo with another guard, with Kyrie Irving being a popular alternative.

But Spoelstra announced his decision to the Heat's team-run website Friday about an hour before he was set to meet with reporters for the scheduled All-Star media availability for players and coaches.

Bosh has been playing some great basketball lately. How is this a bytch move? Seems to me not picking your own player would be more of a bytch move.

And lets be honest, the fans fukked it up. Bosh shoulda been starting over KG and then the right move woulda been to put in Kyrie for Rondo.

Can't blame him for being loyal :manny:

I can understand him starting Bosh cause that's his player and Bosh would probably be hurt if he didn't pick him. And they need the size to compete with that monster Western Conference frontline.

:heh: Anybody heard that rumor that Riley told Spo to not play Lebron with Kyrie at all, so Bron wouldn't even think about how it would be like if he played with Kyrie or even think about going back to the Cav's.
