NEW ORLEANS —
The 2022 graduating class at St. Augustine High School is making national headlines for a feat they collectively achieved

Every student was accepted to college. That's not it. This group of Purple Knights also earned a combined $9.2 million in scholarship offers.

The Director of Communications & Marketing Mel Cordier says 99 graduates in this class will enroll in a college or university. One graduate is entering the military ranks. We're told 55% of students are staying in state. 45% are going out of sate.

The school was founded in 1951 and remains one of the leading educational institutes for Black men in the state.

:ehh:

That's cool...I'm not impressed, but I'm glad for them.

I would like it if everyone had plans for after high school. College, apprenticeships, or otherwise

Is there a particular reason your not impressed?

Im impressed, although I believe college is the second level of indoctrination. But hopefully they can overcome that and get a good career that will get them out of the rat race early.

This is why i like the idea of Umars school,it just doesnt work being in America. Good to see them complete this challenge as a collective.

This is what I like to read about…. And you have some people calling educated black people ”lames” while they should be the most revered in the community and not rappers and atheletes.

What type of area is St Aug in?

I been a fan of St Aug for a while. More schools like them need to be set up for black boys in these big cities.

I wouldn't call it a great area but the area is predominantly Black and not too far from Dillard university. I agree about Black boys needing more schools like this.

The thing that people don't realize is they can do both. Be smart and rap or be an athlete. For some reason they feel like it's one or the other
