Long story short. The State basically want to change the school district. And basically refusing to fund schools until they get their way. Teachers who spread their pay out all year won't get their money they're suppose to get. Once school is out in June teachers are screwed. I'm not a teacher but work for the school district. I have a 2nd job so this won't effect me
DETROIT (WXYZ) - More than 90 Detroit Public Schools are closed Monday due to teacher sick-outs after Detroit Federation of Teachers interim President Ivy Bailey called for them on Sunday afternoon.
The reason, according to Bailey, is because the district does not have enough money to pay teachers after June 30.

The shortage affects teachers who decided to have their paycheck spread out over a 52-week span and continue to receive paychecks during the summer.
We're told the teachers will be rallying at the Fisher Building in Detroit this morning and plan to vote this week on whether to strike.
