Will hip hop ever be about the lyricists like it was in eighties and nineties. or u think the current climate is what it will be for the foreseeable future

Right now it's amazing

Still a solid amount of lyricists doing their thing. Lupe/Pusha/Kendrick/Ross/Cole/Wale come to mind off gate but the producers are outdoing the artists

The producer era. These nikkas are like rockstars

Kodak Black is nice

I can't respect anybody's opinion on rap if they can't feel songs like Letter, Blood Sweat Tears Revenge, Too Many Years, Everything 1K, etc.

It's nothing wrong with it now.

The only thing I find baffling is Nas was 17 - 18 when he wrote Illmatic, Ice Cube was was 21 when Amerikkkas Most Wanted Dropped, Pac was 20 when 2pacolypse Now dropped. Q tip and Phife were 20 - 21 and was making amazing art. And was aware of what was going on. Not saying that the current young artists that age aren't making art because I love Uzi can't get into savage or yachty. But denzel is cool. But they're not knowledgeable or aware. If u watch interviews of them everyone seems lost. Like they're sheep.

But they're making some good music u can't deny it.

This is the fukkery era. Where the fans are bigger than the artists. Too many sensitive opinions preventing the game from respecting top notch lyricism. I have to watch battle rap just to see n1ggas appreciate bars.

This a diss aimed at Drake and the entire industry.

I've finally found that balance between lyricism and swag...flow & substance. :wow:

I just find it to be hilarious on how now you have more people trying to say that the entire culture of rap was not black even though you had cats wearing african medallions and shyt like that and how other genres like jazz and r and b which was made by black which is a predecessor to rap people are trying to say that other races are responsible instead of us just because other races may have lived in the same city blacks dont credit for shyt

:what: who is saying "the entire culture" wasn't "black"? you mean people saying that there were white people back then too?

Strip clubs are running shyt now. its all about ignorant/destructive content over hot, demonic sounding beats and hypnotizing melodies. Nobody wants to THINK when it comes to rap and stripclubs/nightclubs. That's why that kinda hip-hop is pushed to the forefront while real lyricists you have to "find"

A lyrical dude like Nick Grant is gonna have a harder time getting mainstream exposure .
