State troopers seized 28 pounds of heroin worth about $1 million following a traffic stop Tuesday on the Merritt Parkway in Stratford, according to a release.

Jose Adorno, 50, of Chicago, was pulled over by police at about 1:30 p.m. Tuesday for a moving violation, the release states.

"While troopers were speaking with the operator, they were alerted to possible narcotics in the vehicle and initiated an investigation," according to the release. "A Trumbull Police Department K9 team responded to the traffic stop and assisted with the investigation."

The police K9 helped troopers find 11 packages of suspected heroin, which was brought to Troop G as evidence, according to the release.

Adorno was charged with possession of over 1 kilogram of heroin and intent to sell, and was held on $1 million bond. He is due in Bridgeport Superior Court on Wednesday, May 18, 2016.

I hope this thug is prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

We need to protect our streets and children from these animals.

Just a couple more exits and he would have been in Bridgeport or new Haven where he must have been headed.

Oh well. Sucks to be him.

Somebody definitely dropped a dime though.
