State Sen. Royce West won't vote for fellow Democrat MJ Hegar, accuses her of having "a problem all along with Black folks"

State Sen. Royce West, D-Dallas, reportedly does not plan to vote for MJ Hegar, the Democratic nominee for U.S. Senate who beat him in the primary runoff, saying she is "crazy" and has "had a problem all along with Black folks.

West made the comments Friday to the Austin American-Statesman after his lack of support for Hegar came up at her first debate with Republican incumbent John Cornyn. During the debate, moderators asked Hegar about a recent comment from West in which he said she "has not called me to ask for my support."

"She has never reached out and it is what is with her and I’m not voting for her, I’m not voting in that race," West told the Statesman.

Huge "Karen" smug vibes from her. Ex-Republican who switched parties bc she's a careerist. Her entire campaign has revolved around her military background. At the height of the George Floyd protests, they asked her about her plans for police reform, every answer was generic and lacked any details to address the problem. She is only just now trying to reach black voters. She spent the entire primary courting hippies in Austin, soccer moms in the suburbs, and Hispanics. At one of the debates she also accused Royce West of using his position in politics for his own personal gain in his private life. Sen. West had to check the Karen and let her know how solid is standing is in black Dallas and how he has given many opportunities to young black lawyers in the area to come up through his law firm. Her accusation turned off a lot of black voters.
