You're right, the majority of crime is pepepetrated by someone of the same race. The problem in the black community is the rate of violent crime. Among white people, about 2.6 people are murdered out of every 100,000. For black people its 18.3 out of every 100,000.
This is a problem, but it does not need to be brought up every time someone starts talking about police brutality. Because when Malik kills Tyrone, Malik goes to jail immediately. When Officer Whitey kills Tyrone, he's put on paid leave(vacation), and then there is an investigation by his buddies on the force and his fans in the DA's office. And unless its a super clear cut case of murder, nothing is going to happen to him.
