The problem is that the Knicks front office is super incompetent. I think Frankie can still be a solid player he's only 20 but he needed to go to team that needed a a defensive stopper like Dallas.
Phil always wanted to prove how clever he was by doing the unconventional. As if he had unique knowledge and insight by selecting someone that no one heard of before.
Eventually, you realize that these highly-respected 'geniuses' know nothing more than the common man.

There's this certain sect of Knicks fans that think Ntilikina is some sort of untapped gem because he's reasonably competent in man to man defense all while ignoring his massive warts. It's completely fascinating.
Phil made that dumb decision because his ancient ass triangle offense doesn’t need the point guard to be good. The point guard in Phil Jackson system has always been a third or latter option ( Steve Kerr, Derrick Fisher) and that’s what he wanted Frank to be. A defender who eventually could develop a shot.

Frank isn’t worth the roster spot. Plus lord knows what would have transpired with Dennis on the roster initially.
