I’m my own worst critic. I go in just wanting to be the best version of myself. It’s a selfish thing really. I could give two fukks about the company but I have work ethic to the point where I want to be the best at what I do when I step in the building.

I feel like I’m that nikka everyday I step in that bytch so I’m sure I save them hella money

When looking to get promoted, you learn quick that if you’re not positively effecting the bottom line you ain’t getting shyt. Even if you’re good at what you do, they’ll just use you till you stop letting em by leaving or using leverage for a higher position.
This. I seen this happen with a cast majority of Black folks. What SAS is saying does not work for BP.

this is what I am saying in my previous post.

Respect brother. Wish you nothing but continued success.

Ive been in my field now for 14 years freah out of college. I bumped my head a few times going to the career ringer. One thing I tell any black person in a career "Be the best professional version of yourself". You dont have to act like your white colleagues. I see responses in this thread that say Act White and that not true.

Lies and stupid.

This assumes that the corporate world is somehow fair. This idiot is out there doing propaganda: be a good boy to corporations and you'll be rewarded.

With this mentality, you'll end up used and sick for nothing.

Most people in Corp America aren't close to the top. SAS is in the entertainment industry and he is the face of a franchise. You can't compared to two

You dont have to be at the top to be successful. Im not at the top of my department at my job but Im an success. I started my career entry level and now Im over $130K. Only have student loan debt. No financial worries. Less stress. That's success to me. I also have plenty run to grow as a man and a career man.

Everybody has to ask themselves what is success to your own life.

Keep that attitude bro. Continue to find that motivation.

It’s funny because my CAC coworkers went to negotiate equipment for a new building in Georgia. I saw him at the store when he got back and I asked him how was the trip blah blah blah.

And he literally said “It was good, saved the company a lot of money”.

This is true when you work for anyone. The key is to make the company money or save the company money.

The main take away is make sure while you are making your company money or saving your company money (while also making your boss look good). That your are documenting it on your resume (getting real money numbers) and learning all you can for the next job you have. If you know everything for the Job you doing then you need to know the job your boss is doing. That way you can put that on your resume.

Second it don't matter if the job gives you a promotion or not...it's a two way street. Its quicker to get a raise by learning as much as you can at your job. Then applying to a job somewhere else and jumping. Trust this is how folks make money most of the time out here in corporate America.

So yes what Stephen a is saying is true. But he is not telling you the entire story on how he used every job as a stepping stone on the way to ESPN.

As a black man, the corporate world really isn't the place for us. Too much job politics and bullshyt, often at your expense.

You will be demeaned and emasculated in various ways.

The corporate world is incredibly racist and built on nepotism.

It’s extremely rare for a black man to succeed beyond a certain limit.

I don’t give a damn how valuable you think you are or how much work you put in for these CACS.

Everyone works to not have to work a day again in their life. And for 99.9% of black men the corporate route will never get you there. And of that 0.01% they were born into it, they had things set up for them. It was already written.

Most of the brehs on this forum who are making 6 figures are skilled. Think doctors, IT, software developers, etc. That should tell you what it is right there. The system is not set up for us, our best aspiration is to carve a niche in the program and hope it sticks.
