that movie is terrifying but the ending was obviously kinda :beli: status. especially with those terrible special effects. One of the creepiest parts to me is when they're looking in that book and the picture starts moving and IT is peddling a unicycle or some shyt. I don't know why that always freaked me out.

When the kids temporarily defeated It in the sewers they got trapped down there because they were still kids and It's power had more effect on them because of it so bev came up with the plan that they needed to "become adult" in order to save themselves and create a connection between their childhood selves and their adult selves so they would never really forget what happened with It. And having sex was the most adult thing she could think of to do.
At least that was how I remember Stephen King explained it on his message board a few years ago.

Such a great book. Yeah, 1 movie just isn't good enough if they wanna properly represent the story. A mini-series is a good idea, but it'd have to be like an HBO Series or something. Though the movie was pretty damn good IMO, it really didn't do the book justice at all.

As far as being the best horror story ever written, hell, you can make the same case for another of King's books, The Shining. You really can't go wrong with either one of those. As far as The Stand, it's probably my favorite King book, but it's main drawback is it's so damn exhausting to read (if that makes sense). I went on a King binge a little while ago, reading through a bunch of his stuff again, including It, and I didn't go near either The Stand or The Dark Tower at the time, because of the investment needed for both. I read fast as hell, but with them 2 (counting TDT as a single entity, not 7, now 8 books), I get drawn in, and everything just slows down. It's one of the very few times that happens.

I also seen Needful Things mentioned, and man do I LOVE that book too. I try to read it once or twice a year. I always love going back to Castle Rock.

I love IT the movie so as I kid I started to try and read it that book was so thick. Then I go to read it and it has some gay dudes getting murdered on a bridge or some shyt early in the book and I was like WTF and gave it up. I read alot of the Dark Tower series at the time though.

Specially the book. The film was good but it was in no way long enough to tell the story the way the book did.

I made this suggestion before here, that to really make the story justice on the screen, it should be a TV mini series. Like a 10 to 12 episode TV mini series. Each episode about an hour long. That way, they story could really be told. I'd pay to see that.

Any other fan's of the movie/book here?

I remember watching the flick for the 1st time at about 9 or 10 and being shook for months

The 1st night, I couldn't even get a wink all night.
you know what..... you might be on to something. especially with all these shows on cable/and regular TV. i mean king use to do the little mini series anyway from time to time. So i could only imagine a nice TV show called something else. but once its over you realize wow that was a TV show of THE THING. basically breaking down the entire book in 10 or so episodes. could be epic. would have people at the edge of their couches.
