Might as well gave Kareem a shot if this is the best they can do.
*shrugs*, the guy has done a good job with UCLA players/recruits, now he can just coach them from the jump. I thought he was a bum coach @ Iowa but he's done a great job @ NM and has rebuilt his name. Lack of tourney success is a red flag but alot of coaches have had stetches where they haven't done much and he's still pretty young. UCLA got turned down by all the hot young names, Marshall probably would've done the same, and none of the veteran coaches were gonna leave their gigs for UCLA, I don't think it's that bad of a hire.

i'm saying...i don't think ppl have actually ever watched UNM play outside of the harvard loss (which honestly shoulda been enough to see his coaching faults.)
dude is of the roy williams variety when it comes to x's and o's and in-game adjustments, he doesn't have many strategies and makes no adjustments. the difference is that unlike ol boy roy, alford will never get 4 or 5 NBA players on his roster at one time that can play their own game and win despite his shortcomings.
i mean you can even go farther back to iowa and see his mediocrity.
@ ucla fans for the next 3-4 years...
