this is a non issue really, if an owner wants to risk $20 mil on a kid, so be it

Plus there's no big difference between 18-20...like many, I dislike that the players can't go back to school once undrafted (why would one object to this?)

Because it would give these young Black kids too many options. Let's not act like they want an age limit to help out the players or because they're really concerned with them getting educations or not ending up broke once they retire; they're doing it for their own selfish monetary interests.

I only agree if you didn't hire an agent.

Kerr's reaching on several points in this article.

Yep, AAU is blasphemous yet those world series little leagues and soccer academies, etc are accepted. Point being, elite athletes are pampered no matter what sport they play. Maturation isn't exclusive to the collegiate setting.

@tremon...why does that matter? An agent could only be compensated if their client signs a contract

IMA..If teenagers are allowed to fight in wars then they should be allowed to make their own decisions and go into the NBA out of high school if they want.

I'll never understand how some of the most conservative, republican motherfukkers will be the first ones to try and limit, what is essentially, a grown man's employment.

These kids are too mentally undeveloped to ball but developed enough to put on death row.

You get shyt in advance that would violate NCAA rules in terms of flight expenses, hotel stays, hell, if you had an agent, what would stop you from negotiating an overseas deal or a D-League invite? By then, who's to say the team would even take you back? By then they probably already recruited and signed your replacement.

Most 18 or 19 year olds aren't grown men.....:childplease:

Good point, but there is no inherent difference between schools and agencies regarding recruitment. That is, an agency can be subject to the same rules (e.g., no additional compensation).

The issue of being replaced is more of a hindrance

A lot of bullshyt in this article. People are really glorifying college IMO. As if the college culture can't make a player entitled. or that there are plenty of professionals with one or less years in college, while there are plenty of knuckleheads with two or more years. But the most laughable part about that article is this concept of "Team" and how important it is to the NBA. Name a single team that keeps together even 50% of its team for more tha. 2 or 3 years. What a crock of shyt.
