I go back and forth between these god-tier albums. Innervisions has Higher Ground/Living for the City but What's Going On has the title track/Inner City Blues :patrice:

-Which album do you prefer
-What's your favorite song on either album
-What's your least favorite song on either album

Innervisions>>>>

Best song: Golden Lady :wow:
Worst Song: Higher Ground. Just doesn't fit the vibe of the album iMO

I have this on vinyl and have listened to it MANY times over.

Don't get me wrong, God is Love from Marvin is a fukking banger too :wow:

Thanks for saving this thread from being a complete flop man :heh:

We'll have to agree to disagree on Higher Ground though cause I think that's arguably the best thing Stevie has ever done

Really? Ever???

The bass work is impressive on that song but that's about it for me.

We can do an entirely new thread on best Stevie Song ever, but Higher Ground wouldn't even crack the top 25 for me :mjlol:

What do you like about it?

For my personal tastes, when I think about my favorite Stevie songs off each album, especially in the golden era I tend to learn towards the funkier songs?

So Talking Book-Maybe Your Baby/Superstition(Although that one and Big Brother don't really fit the album lyrically, I dig it

FFF- On this one it's a tie between It Ain't no Use and You haven't done nothin

SITKOL- I wish/All Night Sucker

Ohhhhhhhh man, yeah we have opposing Stevie tastes because those are actually the WOAT tracks on all of those albums for me!

Bruh I like every. single. song. on Talking Book EXCEPT Superstition
FFF-Creepin', Heaven is 10 Zillion Miles away???
SITKOL, I skip All Night Sucker, every other song is GOAT

To each his own I guess.

What are your go-to Marvin songs?

This is why I love talking music, because it's so subjective so it's cool to hear other perspectives :heh:

My favorite three Marvin songs are probably: Trouble Man, Distant Lover, What's Goin On

But that changes every other day. You?

Same. Changes often. As far as albums go, "I Want You" is his peak IMO.
There's MANY if not all tracks I love off that album but if I had to pick 3 on repeat I'd have to go with I Want You, All the Way Around, and Come live with Me Angel. It's just a phenomenal album overall :wow:

Distant Lover is a bop too, of course.

Shangri-La
Innervisions is an example of a perfect album to me, builds up then mellows back out. It has a few of my staple Stevie tracks.

Fav track-Visions, sexiest bass line I’ve ever heard
Least-All in Love is Fair
