So let's say I put 6-8,000 in Nvidia stocks or NASDAQ stocks. If I wait until it returns to normal, around how much will I be able to sell my shares for?
first off, it depends what you mean by “normal.” something like the ETF i was talking about, QQQ, was at its all time high in mid February, around $542 a share. it closed at $422 today.

so the idea is that eventually the general trajectory of these markets is up, and eventually the NASDAQ, and as a result the QQQ, is going to return to that all time high (and go past it).

if you put $6000 in at $422 a share for QQQ, its about 14 shares. then if it goes back to $542, you could sell it for $7,588, about $1500 profit. so its not like get rich quick money.

now for nvidia? its down to $94 right now. but thats still a lot higher than they were at any point before 2024. that should make you think: is it going to go back to $130 or $140 a share for sure? or is the pre-2024 level more like its normal price. because its possible it never gets back to that level. as a company stock its inherently more risky.

if you put $6000 into nvidia now, it would be like 64 shares. if it went back to lets say $130 a share, youd get $8384, almost $2000 profit. so more money than with an ETF, but theres much more of a chance that wont happen. so you need to be comfortable with the risk, and that comfort comes with understanding the company. if you dont understand the company, its basically just gambling.
