A 12-year-old boy eating in a parked car in New York City was shot dead, and a relative seated with him was seriously injured, as people from two other vehicles exchanged gunfire Thursday night, police said Friday.

It appears the boy and his relative, a 20-year-old woman who was in the driver's seat of the car, were mistakenly caught in the gunfire exchange in Brooklyn and were not targets, a New York Police Department spokesperson said Friday. The woman is in stable condition, police said.

I would've never thought it was such a prevalent idea, but I've been in 3 situations where we was just chilling and all of sudden everybody pulling off or ducking behind a pillar Kuz folks started shooting. I heard my hood store parking lot got sprayed up the other day and as much i used to like to be there in my downtime, i could've easily been in some unnecessary crossfire again.

It's not really a rule to not sit in your car too long. You just always have to be aware of your surroundings. Some peoples' awareness goes away after so long of nothing happening and remaining normal. shyt can hit the fan in an instant, from loud/agressive talking, to squeaky brakes, too much silence, etc
