I recently got into Civilization IV. I like it a lot, but I'm looking for a game with some more diplomacy, production, trade, and military strategy options. I've heard Victoria 2 is good, but I'm not even sure if you can control units directly in war, and it seems pretty bland (I could be wrong).

What are some good strategy games that the coli fukks with?

As for Civ IV, my Romans (my second time playing) are too dominant, but I'm learning the hard way that some things that should be in the game, aren't (like the ability to cancel capitulation). Those nukes though :ahh:

In Victoria 2 you can control military units and it is a tough game to learn, but It is fun. If you like historical strategy games, the other Paradox Interactive games series hearts of iron, europa universalis, and crusader kings are good. If you like space games Galactic Civilizations 2 is one of the best 4x strategy games out there. You can even customize the races' abilities or create yor own, and ships are fully customizable.

I don't mind it being tough to learn. The other con about Victoria 2 that I forgot to mention is that I guess it ends at the beginning or right before WWII. But it's looking like I'm going to try it out. How is the diplomacy/negotiation between nations? Like, what are some options that just don't exist in Civ?

Victoria 2 has a timeline of 1836 to 1936, so you have time before that happens. As far as diplomacy goes if you are a Great Power you can fight with other Powers for influence in secondary powers and uncivilized nations. Also you can invest in the economic development of other nations to build ties with them. If you get this i would get the A House Divided Expansion as well: it fixes alot of issues in the old game and adds new features like the investment i mentioned.
