with street fighter 5 i wanted to create a thread on how to get better at street fighter 5 and street fighter in general so go ahead and ask a question and i will do my best to answer your question.

now this thread was created for newbies not exprienced vets but anybody is more then welcomed to ask a question.

Is it better to play using a regular controller or arcade one? I haven't played a fighting game since Injustice on ps3 and i was trash on that but i'm thinking about going back in Maybe i should stick to Madden and 2K so I don't get bodied

The honest to God truth is it honestly doesn't matter, lots of people in the fgc like to shyt on pad players but some of the top pro's use pad (smug,snake eyez)...it's all about which one you initially feel comfortable with. I have 2 arcade sticks but I also use pad...for the pro's it just makes since to use an arcade stick for things like plinking etc but just use what feels comfortable...

Sf is the type of game that your either going to devote your time to getting better or you might as well not pick it up to begin with...took me 5 years before I was descent

well it depends because certain motions on pad are much easier then say on stick having played on both i was ass on pad so i perfer stick imo.

and u can mod sticks to fit your execution and playstyle i don't think u can do that on a pad with that said if u don't want to break the bank and spend money on a fight stick then stick to pad on working on your execution if that don't work then try the fight stick and see how it works for your execution and playstyle and if u like it but think it can be better then mod the stick and continue to work on your execution.

ps try a hitbox stick for easy execution.

This is true. Skill in fighting games is similar to a muscle you have to work on constantly. I use to mop the floor with my patna now that nikka whoopin my ass..cause I haven't been in a training mode in years. That's changing starting today tho. Unfortunately you have to deal with random fights in between training mode.

Look how i use fundamentals to DESTROY the resident street fighter genius @iLLusoYuN_Da_Adidas_King

Notice how i hold back, then go forward with odd timing to confuse the mark and allow blankas roll to connect even when he knows its coming, Over and over again. Notice how i repeately press the jab button and electrocute. Notice how i use jumping with no attack to get easy throws as my opponent anticipates being locked into a block frame. No fancy combos. Just mind games. Just Elite Gaming.

Yup your right..I remember back in '09 me and my boy use to play every day and we were both right around 1500 player points each then one day I was like, man I need better competition, so for like the next 3 months I blocked my friend and only played 3k player point players....came back and played my friend again and literally destroyed him, he was like

The only way to improve is to continually get destroyed by stronger players, it forces you to speed up your reaction time and to think differently...sf is a mental game, you can know how to do all the combo's and executions possible but if your mind isn't conditioned, you'll get beat..
