Im not really a internet nikka but i love music and i been lurking these boards for a minute so i wanna start a discussion.
With mainstream becoming dominated by "trap" music non street nikkas cant relate so they disrearg all the music as trash. then they big up these boring soulless "backpack" rappers and claim their lyrical superiority. Imo these fast paced toungue twist rappers don't be rapping about shyt! and the ones that do lack the charisma to really make u "feel" their records. people love to bring up the golden era and say rappers like kendrick and j.cole bring that energy back, but really they're just replicas of what real hip hop used to be. That backpack shyt cant be felt by people that's really out here, but hip hops sole purpose was to keep up with whats going on in the streets. The only thing "trap" music missing is rappers that can really bring it lyrically, and once that happens i think the game will be in better shape. None of the greats were as lame as these backpack nikkas and none of em were as lazy as trap rappers but they definitely were all considered STREET. I feel like the lack of creativity by the current street nikkas is making all the fans forget what this shyt is truly about. That nerdy shyt should NEVER be on top of the game

You prefer music that mocks black stereotypes that cacs endorse?
You missed the whole point. Street music is about whats going on in the daily lives of black people, trap music is a form of street music but its poorly done. people like you think that it's all about negativity but with the right insight u can rap about the evils of the street and still have a positive message. That fake kumbaya "pro-black" shyt aint where it's at.

when i say streets im not strictly talking about drugs and violence, street rap to me is music about the struggle and overcoming it. To me trap music talks about the struggle but not about overcoming it. these fake rap nikkas dont talk about the dark side of being about that life cuz Most trap rappers aint even bout it. But these fake ass "moral" rappers just make me sick. If these backpack rappers are so revolutionary why are most of their fans white boys and black introverts? .

I feel you on the lyrics side, but I think a lot of people don't like this trap music because musically its not that good. You got these rappers who dropping 10 mixtapes a year, with 15 songs on each. Most of that shyt is gonna be garbage because it's impossible to make good music that fast. Kendrick took 2 years to make To Pimp a Butterfly, and whether you like the subject matter on it or not, its undeniable the production and songwriting is miles above the shyt these trap rappers putting out every month.

There's only a few trap rappers I fukk with. Waka's one of them, Flockaveli was fukking good.

I see what u saying, to me it's bad music in all the sub genres it's just that people act like it's only bad music in the trap genre
