:unimpressed:I gotta group exhibition in April 3rd, 2026

And I need $755 to build 9 panels so I can finish the Red Tails playing cards series

And then I need to do Michael "5000" Watts memorial painting...

That $755 is basically:

-Uhaul rental
-Gas
-Lyft
-56 pieces of 1x2 hobby wood
-10 Eucaboard panels cut into (9) 30x40s and (1) 48x60
-Kilz 2 primer 5 gallons
-Golden Gesso 128oz
-280 xerox copies
-Stretch Plastic Wrap

Ya boy is stressed the fukk out. Not complaining because I love art and making art, but dammit all these numbers are driving me:francis:

fukk following your dreams man, shyt is expensive :wow:

Then I still gotta wait to find out if I'm accepted into Graduate Art School and that won't be until June 1st.

Meanwhile, I gotta finish two panels this upcoming week and build 10 panels this week :mjcry:this shyt isn't fukking fair.

I wish sometimes my Grandmama never would've put a crayon in my toddler hands :sadcam:

But I ain't coward and no punk so Imma deal with it...shout out to @HarlemHottie :salute:you a real one with the Aaron Brooks pass to the flats to Deuce so I can run it on the screen I shall put that GAC 100 to great use and I got your small drawing coming to you too:myman:. I sincerely appreciate you and because you put ya neck on the line and believed in me I know I can do this....it's always a Black woman behind every great Black man :blessed:

You really believe in me :mjcry:

Breh just rob the Blick store and all of your problems will go away.
How am I gonna rob the dikk Blicks and escape in a walker?

:dahell:

I swear this shyt fugazi.

Thank the Loa that learning how to build wood panels became a skill, only problem is I gotta find artist that like painting on wood.

But all these new artists are lazy as fukk and wanna paint on stretched canvas, I swear I'm the only Negro that is building panels by his bare fukking hands. I'm sick of being great :childplease:

I wish I was a fukking normal like @RickyDiBiase or that lame ass @Roger king this shyt is strenuous

Bro you entire rant is your answer.

Stop looking at this as a debt and start looking at it as a startup cost.

You mentioned you the only one building panels and new artists are lazy. That's your leverage.
Start offering Custom Panel Pre-Orders to your local art community.

If yoou build 5 extra panels for other artists and charge $150–$200 a pop (including materials & labor), you got ur $755 right there.

And for the 5000 watts, Reach out to local DJs, record shops, or fans of the Swishahouse era.
Tell them you building a massive 48x60 memorial painting but need help with the materials.

And also sell panel sponsorships for sponsor a red tail campaign

Do it, go for it, you'll learn shyt and become a better businessman or entrepeneur while you at it

You ever thought about taking out a personal loan for $1K then pay the money back from the proceeds of selling your work?
Probably is the deadline to payback the loan. I hit up art appraisers to appraise my art because with me being in a museum of fine art permenent art collection and been in shows consistently for 5 straight years, be 6 in August...I figured I could a price on my work and then out my art up for collateral for loans, I mean it's a smart decision, considering I can always repaint the work I lose if I don't pay.

Don't you know them muthafukkas all flaked on me cause I was Black. They was down to do it when they saw my name, which I admit is a white man name, but as soon as they saw the visibly Black art they bailed out. Didn't even matter if I got institutional validation. Smh

Knock out a 12 hour work day like its nothin
I can't even afford it. I don't even wanna be on drugs except caffeine. On Monday I plan on getting the materials and get started. I'm extremely excited about finishing this WWII exhibition series I'm doing on the Tuskegee Airmen and the art around the P51 and portraiture series along with the playing cards.

I just need 8 more panels built, 4 of Spades to 10 of Spades and Big Joker. And I'm done with that portion of the proposal. I can then finish the 3 pin up works I have left. And then the 3 Tuskegee Airmen portraitures Imma do.

That's the reality of using art as colateral.
Banks and lenders are notoriously liquid, they want things that sell fast like cars and houses.
Also if you try that you will need to be have a certified USPAP appraisal. That could cost you $400 right there.
So you'd be spending half the loan proving the art is worth the loan

I know the Watts piece is gonna hot, I wanna gift it to his family or save it for my solo show, but I'm sure it will sell once it's done. I want it all this shyt completed before March ends tho.
I need to smoke to calm my nerves :noah:

That's your work????/

Yo that shyt is beautiful!!!
You should go for a Community-Sustained Art (CSA) rather than a lonely bank loan since your art is community-based.

Also if you need 9 wingmen ask $85 per person to cover the cost of one card.
Say that the red tails never lost a bomber they escorted and you looking for 9 Wingmen to escort these panels to the finish line or something like that.
they'lll their name is listed in the exhibition program and on the back of the panel.

If you got 280 xerox copies hand color a few dozens of them with a purple wash and sell em for $50 each. That's $1000.

Also go to a museum and ask about micro-grants, check out The Puffin Foundation.

Yep this is my art. This is my baby, my 1st pure theme exhibition proposal. I thought about doing a 52 deck one on each branch in a suit with two jokers...big and little...the ideas won't leave me alone, but if I did do that, that will be my thesis exhibition along with the Pin Ups and stand alone portraits that is 63 pieces. That enough for a tire gallery wing in a museum. I know if I sit and do that I could blow up overnight.

I applied to every grant I can apply to with a BA and got rejected. But you said the CSA? Im fenna Google that shyt. I know an Airmen personally who been buying up all my Red tail stand alone art so I wonder if he can look and see if the USAF has a cultural center that focuses on military art to see if I can get a grant.

The art world is racist...
I can't say anything more about it.
I told you before, you gotta get creative about how you earn revenue for your art.
If that means selling directly to black people, do it. If it mean gettin' out to different regions, do it.

I definitely only work with Black galleries at this point because of the racism. That's why I want my MFA for networking. Problem is these bougie ass galleries in up north :francis:

They be hating on the South
