What's the name of that Mobb Deep track after the Saukrates joint?
Whenever I wasn't at the Tunnel that Sunday, I use to always catch Future Flavas just for the remixes Pete Rock use to drop. NY radio as a whole was at its magnum opus. At the time, Hot 97 had Evil Dee, Marley and Pete, Stretch and Bob, Mr. Magic, Red Alert, and of course Flex at the helm. On the college radio tip Stretch and Bob were the kings of that but you also had Martin Moore, Sunset, and Mayhem on WNYU, Wildman Steve and Riz on WBAU, Half Pint, Dirty Dozen all putting in work. Plus, it wasn't a huge gap in contrast between what a DJ like Flex or Stretch was playing. 84-89 was the first golden era in NY radio with Mr. Magic, Marley, Red Alert, Chuck Chillout, Awesome 2, etc. But to me, 92 to 96 was the second golden era. The balance was just perfect.Used to record these shows religiously every Sunday back then!
Hot 97 used to be the shyt. Stretch and Bob, and Pete Rock and Marley on the same night. Good times.
