People always give House Party, Juice, Boyz n the Hood, Above The Rim, Menance II Society etc their recognition and rightfully so but what about Strictly Business?

I feel like this movie never gets brought up when talking about Black movies of the 90's and or related to Hip Hop and R&B music by way of a soundtrack. The soundtrack had some of the best in the game at the time on it; LL Cool J, Jodeci, Grand Puba, Mary J. Blige, Heavy D (R.I.P.) and The Boyz, Nice & Smooth etc.

This Jeff Redd song is my shyt!

Halle Berry was the leading lady in this film with Tommy Davidson from In Living Color, Samuel L. Jackson, Joseph C. Philips from The Cosbys aka Denise's husband.

Plus Nelson George co wrote this movie. He's the same guy who co wrote and produced Chris Rock's CB4 movie.

As a kid, I ran into Joseph C Phillips at Pizza Hut after just watching Strictly Business for the 5th time on VHS tape.

He had a nice azz sports car. He was eating good off of that movie. Probably living in some gated community.

So I'm all hyped up because this is the guy from Strictly Business who's about to be a great big African-American star. He had also TOUCHED HALLE BERRY.
So I walked up to him and asked 'Can I get you autograph?' He hit my 8 year old azz with the :comeon: and then was like :beli: 'anybody have a pen'. I'm still trying to be excited but my 8 year old self is :lupe: confused as to why Joseph C Phillips (who is no Wesley Snipes) is giving me shade. He then proceeded to write down some shytty version of his name in cursive on a napkin. Like any bytch azz 8 year old, I took it, smiled, said "THANK YOU!" and ran across the Pizza Hut to show my mom. When I went back home and thought of the encounter I was sad :to: that he wasn't the happy smiling celebrity that I thought of every time I watch the movie. A couple years later I was like :heh: at this breh not showing love to one of his few fans in Pizza Hut. I also watched Strictly Business again at an older age and finally put it where it belongs:trash: .

:banderas: :banderas: :banderas: damn these songs bring back so many memories.

i've loved halle berry since i was a child, man. this movie & Mo' Money are overlooked black cinema joints from the early 90s.

I know man, the songs on this soundtrack were nice. Strictly Business is one of those movies I can watch pretty much anytime. It never gets played out to me. Mo' Money is another good one.

Ralph Tresvant had one hell of a song on the Mo' Money soundtrack with "Money Can't Buy You Love". I still keep this song in heavy rotation. :stylin:

Its one of those flicks that if it's on...I'm watchin it till its finished. Dope 90s flick. Nice & Smooth and Redhead Kingpin with the rap cameos and it had Sam Jackson fresh off the pipe. haha

"Man she look like a well-dressed number two pencil" - that line was corny as hell but I'm still :dead: off it.
