i know what a cpa is, i'm about to have a degree in accounting. i was asking you why you said he needed to get one.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I was looking into accounting a couple years back.

I always thought getting a CPA would allow you to open your own practice, and if you didn't start your own business getting a CPA would afford you a higher salary.

depending on what you are doing, you can open a business without a cpa. but it does get you a higher salary since they are qualified to do more.

Probably because it's the first or second most popular major, and the majority of the people who major in it aren't going ot grad school for psychology, nor were they academically inclined to do anything worthwhile in the field. There are probably more psych majors that bartend and work at Progressive Insurance than there are Psych majors who work in Psychology/Psychiatry/Neurology.

Research at a medical center, hospital, major lab, etc.
You could also be a lab tech, or if you have a solid grasp of upper-level mathematics and/or programming you could probably jump into development.
GPA and past research are big factors, but you can get snatched up quick if you've shown skill in the past.

i have the highest respect for any one who has a degree in mathematics..math majors got me through doing calc 2 in college via study groups...plus their track at my alma mater to get one was crazy..they had to pass an exam just to be able to take the 300-400 level math courses else it was

Psychology is a good field to get in to, but it's a bad field to JUST have a bachelor's in.
You need to have AT LEAST a Masters if you want to do anything having to do with actual Psychology.

A lot of ppl ain't even thinking about grad school after graduating so they try and get a job with just their bachelor's only to find out you can't really do much in that field.

but if you are looking to get a masters or PHD, or even go to any other professional school (MBA, Law, etc.) then it's a good degree to have.

problem is sadly most people don't a clue what they are talking about .
