Here in NY there was a story years ago of a bunch of kids in Long Island who bought a 20 pound turkey with a stolen credit card and one of them decided to throw it above the overpass into traffic below.

It hit a woman's car, she crashed and wound up in a coma for 3 weeks and several years of therapy and recovery.

But the lady wanted mercy, so the judge sentenced the kid to 6 months in jail and 5 years probation.

I remember this, though I didn't really follow the story after hearing about it. So the woman wanted mercy for them and the judge basically gave it to him?
