24 now and it's been heavy on my heart that I need to shed immature, selfish, childlike ways. A lot of this is laziness. But I have determined that I am not doing enough every day.

I want the best in life and I won't get to the next level doing the same things. Getting close to being done with college and on break now. my job is on down time (temp job rotation). I literally have no clue what to do. I find myself staying up til AM hrs, sleeping all day, then poppin up for gym and weights.

I don't know where to start and what habits I need to form besides: cleaning everyday, cooking more, staying organized.

What daily things do I need to be doing to become a more active and successful black man in America?

Good suggestion. I like these. But I'm more so looking for DAILY things and habits I should be focused on.

Basically I spend a lot of time wasting time. And I realize the only reason I do it is because once I finish all my school work and get off work, hit the gym, idk what to do with myself beyond work on hobbies or hang out

Find your passions. Organize your time so that you will always find times for the essential things you want to accomplish. Sometimes you have to sacrifice reading internet forums and do things that will help you achieve your goal.

Whatever your goal is, do it! Do things that will get you there. Write down want you want to do.

I do chase one passion. But it consumes me and eats my time and it's kind of solitary. So even while I love it I hate the fact it keeps me helps keep me stagnant inother areas.

More time I spend doing what I love, it becomes an escape to avoid doing what I need to be doing.

Know yourself, know your worth.
Get to know @Music Fiend. What do you like/dislike? What are your strengths/weaknesses? What are you most afraid of and why? Challenge yourself, and focus on improvement. If you love music, start writing, playing, recording and performing.

If you have goals, meet people who are doing what you want to be doing, who inspire you. Let them teach you or give you advice. Surround yourself with positive supportive people.

Meditate and journal! Soo helpful and important.

Why is it solitary? Share your work. Connect with others who have a passion in that field

thx cinna. I mean my passion is music. I was an artist who was performing around the state. I ended up giving it up because I couldn't balance school and music. I do however produce music too, which is the passion that continues.

I'm in a weird space because I have interest in a lot of areas, but find it's really hard to call it passion. I'm afraid of failure and success, which served to keep me stagnant... puts me at a point where I don't "fail" but never 'succeed'. I really need to meet and hang with people who are actively doing music again. It's hard tho because most people will claim to be about it and not be about it, just gets exhausting when I make plans for others to come to the studio and they bail out last minute or show up unprepared.

Thanks for your suggestions, will implement them. I deal with depression too, which I've learned to control, but music kinda puts me in the solitary space where I distance myself. Usually end up in a bad head space when I do it too much.

I totally understand. I'm afraid of failure too. My issue is more anxiety than depression but with both you have to remember to stay in the present moment.

As far as being stagnant, that's gonna happen with fear of failure. Failure comes naturally with growth. If you are afraid to grow, you won't move forward and if you don't move forward and do not remain in the present, then you focus on the past and regret, thus the result is depression.

You need to realize it is ok to fail. Failure is perfectly fine. When you practice your music, I'm sure you make mistakes, but then you learn and try it again. Use the same method in life. You have to take risks and you have to face your fears. When you fail, think about what went wrong and what can you do to fix it or how you can do better next time.

Baby steps are fine. Just like learning to walk, we fell countless times but we kept trying. We need to return to that mindset.
