What do you remember about Doggystyle's production?[It] was was pretty much luck. Everybody thought [Dr. Dre] would be doing the records, but Daz pretty much did the whole album. And at the end of the day, once Daz finished it, everybody wanted Andre to get the credit. Next thing I know Daz is having a meeting with Andre and them and came back and said, "It's okay, give me a few bucks and I'll sign anything over that says produced by Andre instead of me."

Just wondering what the Coli thinks since people love to say Dre is top 5 DOA producer and changed music with G-Funk :comeon:. Is Suge just hating? I know everyone has heard those Chronic and Doggystyle reference tracks.:patrice:

Interesting thread here...thank you for starting a real thread than the other bullshyt on the first page breh

I could hear Daz on some of the records, so Suge could be telling the truth, but he would do and say anything to discredit Dre, so I'm still unsure

I mean multiple people have said it though, each with their own but different agenda, plus the reference tracks plus we all know Dre loves to use ghost producers and in-house studio musicians. I'm just wondering what the argument is at this point that would make Dre up there with a RZA or Primo.

Also didn't know Def Jam tried to sign Snoop lol

The only reason why I would put Dre up there is because of Chronic 1...I hate Chronic 2001 so that shyt doesn't count for me...Chronic is just so much fun and perfect to me...if he did not do it, then I'm dropping his ass, plain and simple. If he didn't do Doggystyle, it would not surprise me, but if he didn't do Chronic, then he would hold no clout in my producer list

It is a lie for the most part. Snoop already talked about what happened as far as Warren and Daz bringing samples.

Considering that Warren G also worked on the album and there were musicians who've come out to speak against Dre for not paying them it's an exaggeration. I forget the keyboard players name but he had an interview on DUBCNN a long time ago saying Dre had him play on a few songs and he never got paid.

Suge is pissed hes a loser no one cares about and Dr Dre is selling head phones to everyone on the planet.

dubcnn.com : Is it true that you and Daz produced songs on Doggystyle / Chronic that you didn't get credit for?

Uhh, I didn't produce nothing on Doggystyle, I rapped on Doggystyle, and that was Ain't No Fun. As far as on the Chronic, I'm not trying to take no credit away from nobody, I was involved in the Chronic, Daz was invovled in the Chronic, Chris Glove was involved in the Chronic, Dr. Dre was involved in the Chornic, all of us producers together as one, but Dre is a genius, I'll never try and take no credit away from Dr. Dre! But what we did help out on the Chronic, WITH Dre. The nikkas a genius man, he's a genius!

Dubcnn: So you're saying it's wrong that Daz or Warren G would claim that they didn't get the credit they deserved on The Chronic or Doggystyle?

I'ma say it like this: they didn't deserve the credit back then because they didn't do the work. They made beats, Dre produced that record. Point blank, and I'd say it in they face. They made beats, cuzz produced the record. If you a real nikka in the rap game, you'll understand what I'm saying. I can make a beat, but I can't produce! I can make a beat, but can I tell a nikka what to rap about, can I tell him when to come with the hook? Can you break the beat down? That's what producing is.

Dubcnn: Right, but if I brought in the beat, I would still want my name somewhere.

But, if you brought in the beat, that's all you did, was brought in the beat. You didn't produce this record. This song says "Produced by" not "brought in the beat by". Keep it real! So that's what nikkas got wrong, and they started pointing fingers and try to bad mouth him, when in actuality Dre doesn't need ya'll, ya'll needed him! Because this shyt ya'll learned from him, that made ya'll better producers. He didn't learn shyt from ya'll! See that's what nikkas don't understand! Before The Chronic, how many hit records did Dre have before that? Everything he made was a hit record right?

Dubcnn: Right.

How many hits did Warren G make, how many hits did Daz make? None. None. Okay now, look at the tracks that they produced on The Chronic. Did they have any records like that by theyselves? No. You answer the question for me!

Dubcnn: Maybe on Dogg Food?

Come on man! Dogg Food was produced by Soopafly, Daz and Dr. Dre!

Dubcnn: Dre mixed it right?

No, Dre produced a lot of that shyt! I'm telling you, Daz and them brought Dre beats, and he produced the muthafukkas! "What Would You Do" was just a beat that Daz had did. That "bu-bump, bu-bump", the nikka Dre put all that shyt on it, that *sings* What would you do, whaa *sings* just to give it that other shyt! I'm telling you what I know man! nikkas gotta give Dre the ultimate respect. nikkas try to bash him and cut his knees down like he didn't do nothing nikka, he's the saviour man! Because what he did was, he showed nikkas how to produce. Because nikkas was good at making beats, but he showed you nikkas how to produce! If ya'll had really did what ya'll say ya'll did, ya'll woulda put records out that sold 3-4 million on your own, like he did. I still have to see it!

props on this shyt.

lmao suge admitting to be the first to do 360 deals :dead:

looking back i always thought it was interesting as far as production credit, daz had nothing to do with doggystyle and the same with dre never had anything to do with dogg pound album.

Daz was a great producer I can actually believe this.. aint no fun is a classic most people think dre produced that

DX: I understand there was some dispute too over production credits with Tha Row. Can you clarify just one last time if you actually produced any part of Lil Ghetto Boy, Aint No Fun, etc?

Warren G:
I didnt have no dispute with [Death Row Records] about no [production credits]. I havent had no dispute as far as working on The Chronic. The Chronic record was a family thang. We all was one and doing this together. Now, I went and got a lot of ideas. I brought a lot of the ideas A lot of those records thats on there is my idea, but Im not trying to take the credit for it because Dre is a great producer. Im glad I was involved in it and had a idea thats history now. But it was a family thang. As family we all worked as one. I would do the record and I would take it to Dre and say, "Man, whatchu think about this?" And he would be like, "Thats tight." And then he would re-do it and make it sound incredible. I mean, hes a great producer. Hes a great producer, and still is.

post those chronic & doggystyle reference tracks

Here's one, which Dam Funk got from a obscure record shop or would have never been heard

I'll look for the rest but pretty much searching Doggystyle or Chronic OG and sift through the results and you'll find them.

I mean you can hear how Dre polished it but does a top 5 producer only do that? Was Dilla or Pete Rock just polishing other people's beats?
