Trump courted internet influencers during the last campaign. Even invited them to the RNC. They are part of his propaganda machine for people who lean maga, but dont watch Fox news.

The biggest yappers are the audience of these influencers, repeating the p.r. that has been fed to them. Down to the phrases and words they heard.

They publicly backed Trump, lost credibility, and feel they have to double, triple down on that. No matter how clear it is that they made the wrong decision.

As you pointed out, as Trump intended, public and private sector are preemptively scrapping anything that the doj watchdogs could target them for. We only know about the stories that are reported. But things are a lot worse than the general public can see.
