Not surprised you had a lot of key elements for high ratings.

A team that wins a lot that a lot of people don't like except their fans being New England. Which was even heightened due to the deflate gate stuff.

The Marshawn Lynch stuff so people that liked him or that didn't like him would watch to see him.

Richard Sherman calling out the Patriots/Goodell with the deflate gate stuff. The game had a lot of "villains" or bad guys depending on what side you were on. Some the Patriots for people believing they cheat get favors and to some Lynch just because they don't like dude for not kissing the media's ass.

I'm not a fan of either team I just wanted to see a good game. A lot of times the Superbowl "hype" "media stories" leading up to the game or more interesting than the game but this year the game lived up to the hype.

I think the superbowl always gets much higher ratings than the AFC & NFC title games, would make sense that a lot of females, gay ppl and other types of people that don't care about sports would watch the superbowl just for those reasons.
