This sums it up perfectly.

I'm in the military and I have to "play the game" with cac superiors. But a breh was our supervisor and he wanted us to show him around town and get bent.

Dapped him up and everything:wow:

The head nod
:ohlawd:

Cousins coming over your house to stay and being more like siblings.:wow:

Feeling like you come from resiliency and it being a bonding factor in America. :mjcry:

Being able to walk through Pink Houses and organically know the lexicon and commanding respect on Monday and then going into the office on Tuesday and being able to still command respect amongst your professional peers.:blessed:

Feeling like you are contributing to improving the lot of your subjugated group in every positive move you make. :myman:

When I was little it was the sports intimidation. Even when I wasn't really mad I would tap into some fake ass "rage" and had dudes on the basketball court like :whoa: while I would get buckets :mjlol:

At my job the best part is being in a position of power and having people get salty with the circumstance knowing there's nothing they can do :banderas:

head nods, daps, handshakes with strangers...

feeling a sense of community with the average person...shaking my head at the same thing as them

being at a bar and dapping up a stranger when someone makes a crazy play in whatever sport is on

being black is :wow: :blessed: sometimes :sadcam: but I wouldn't have it any other way :myman:

Deadass the nod with a random nikka is:wow:
Cacs: :ohhh: Did you know him?
Me::ld:Nope

100.

Another good one is me and my girl were walking back to our place at about 8pm and a brother was like "I'm gonna walk past, ya'll don't wanna be just behind you and your lady like that."

The as he walks past he goes "just lookin out breh, ya'll have a good evening our people gotta stay up for each other."

That interaction would have NEVER happened with a white dude ever...it actually made me :obama:

These are negative examples but relevant. Both took place in Houston.

I used to catch 2 buses from 3 Ward to downtown at night when I cocktailed. One time I was sitting at the bus stop and a Black guy comes over to me and says "Sweetheart this is where I hustle, walk over there to the next stop. Ill make sure you're safe."

Another time I was at the stop trying to get back to 3rd Ward from downtown. I used to always see the same 3 Black people people at this stop: 2 older woman and a very young teenager. Its weird tho cause the young guy never got on the bus. I overheard once the Black women talking about the boy selling drugs at the stop. So one night Im at the spot and its 2 white boys there. They had never been there at that time but I observed them and peeped their convo, they were UH students and foreign. So I see the young Black guy approaching but when he sees the white boy he hesitates. So he finds my glance and without saying anything I could see he was asking if it was cool for him to come over. So I nod and he comes stand at the spot as usual. After that the only time we ever interacted is when he would sometimes ask me if to look and see if the police were around the corner. Im like how did I get into this lil boy's hustle lol??

For me its when I wear my natural hair (no wand curls or flat iron). Black women always smile then start convos and Black men compliment. White people do too but theres intimacy and acceptance when Black people do it. It feels like when family praises you for good grades. When whites do it, its shallow and awkward. Always reminds me of who's team Im on.

True shyt sista. My wife gets the same thing. I will even compliment sistas on their hair.

When I am out with my little daughter sistas will stop and talk to us to compliment my daughters hair.
