Breh I can tell you right now, the main ones goin crazy on game nights are the ones who had parents that wouldn't let them do shyt growing up.

Some strictness is needed, but the parents are 100% strict and 0% lenient tend to produce maladjusted adults

I agree. I think as a parent you should guide your kids in the right direction, but still give them freedom.

First time I ever had any extended conversation with an Asian was sometime in 11th grade,

I was at lunch sitting with my breh, then next thing you know he sat near us, didn't mind and we gave him the head nod.

After that he sat right next to my breh and introduced himself then started showing off his ecchi manga..kept repeating, "I show kids this!"

Not being the most popular guys around, we didn't really mind him, just talked about starcraft and cartoons too much, just disappeared after a few weeks tho

I was with you up until the end. I know you said many and not all but that generalization is a terrible and harmful stereotype. Asians are just grains of sand just like the rest and are comprised of many different forms of excellent parent to shytty parent.

I agree with you Op, being overly strict has an effect on the development of the child. It has to be a balance of the two but what we forget sometimes is that parents are people who have no idea wtf they are doing in terms of parenting for the first time. Which is why if they have multiple children the first child is always the "trial and error child" as I like to call it and they are usually more strict with this child.

Very generally statement but yes I agree with you in general.

Ofcourse overly lenient anything goes type parenting is damaging but overly strict is extremely damaging too, the children aren't prepared for adulthood and making sound choices since they've never had to. They're literally setting the world up as a giant Pandoras box for their kids.
