Saw this book at the library today, caught my eye. If I ever get my library fine paid off, I'll make it the first thing I check out. It seems like white people are starting to wake up to the realization that they the seeds they sowed in the 60's and 70s to keep black men disenfranchised would end up bitting them in the ass and the promotion of neo-feminism is the cherry on top that's gonna bring the whole system crashing , it's no longer contained in just our community now, they starting to feel it in theirs. It's no longer fun when little Tommy comes home and starts emulating the role models that was pushed onto our sons since ages. The truth is our system is not equipped to facilitate boys and their needs, they ain't got not safety nets to fall back on if they mess up. If they mess up, they're as good as done.

We medicate, discipline, suspend and expel our boys from school at quadruple the rate of girls. Young American men are unemployed at the rate of their counterparts in Arab Spring countries. I actually read that and it was actually really poignant from a males perspective. I agree with most all of it outside of the armed forces point... they already do that in Isreal and women in the military are pillars of the society. But other than that

Because that's what would be required. My point is that the construction that men are providers, leaders, and protectors and women are homemakers and baby makers has outlived it's usefullness.

Umm... I think you're missing the point.

I don't think he's referring the the laws that are in place, but moreso the ideology. What do we think and how do we feel about certain things. Sure there are laws that will send a man or woman to jail for hitting the other. But it is not accepted, and actually considered heinous, for a man to hit a woman...

Sure men get custody... but only in the case of a very bad mother. Otherwise, the mother is generally granted custody, and most women feel that is the way it should be.

Sure there are men who stay at home while the woman is the breadwinner, but that is far from the norm, and society would say that man is weak.

Yea women support their partners... but it is not expected nearly as much as from a man. And as men, we're expected to be much more tolerant of the emotions of a woman, where as if a man shows too much emotion he is considered weak.

I could go on and on.... Kev is right. Woman don't really want equality, they want the BENEFITS that the man has gained through being in a male dominated society, but not the undesirable responsibilities that sometimes come with them. And in my opinion, that's all well and good, but don't complain about equality when that's not really what you want.

If a man says "i wanna stay home and raise my kids" he looked at on some sideways-homo shyt. A woman says it and she is considered a traditionalist and is applauded...

not that either one of those are wrong but i think Gender roles exist because men and women ARE NOT the same...you all have children. We can't do that. And thus there are many more things you all have to worry about health wise. Certain jobs a woman is just ill-advised to do especially if she intends on having children.

Not that they can't its just ill advised. But the offenders here are the women that lobby for the same "rights" as Men without the sociological drawbacks. Should women get paid the same...yeah...should they have the ability to follow any career path...yeah...BUT if we are talking about protection under the LAW and the court of public opinion..the scales have ALWAYS been fukked. I know a girl right now with custody of her kids RAPING they daddy check (cuz he got the good job and she work at family dollar) cuz of course the judge ruled in her favor.
