So, no ‘Switch 2’ until after March 2024, im guessing maybe Fall 2024

The company forecasts it will sell 15 million consoles during the current fiscal year ending March 31, 2024, which represents a further 16.5% decline, as Switch enters a significant slowdown during its seventh year on the market.

Nintendo Switch has entered its seventh year since launch, and while it will become more challenging to maintain the same sales momentum as before, our goal is to have more consumers continue to play Nintendo Switch for longer, leading to maximized sales,” the company said in a statement.

According to Bloomberg, Furukawa added that no new or upgraded hardware is factored into Nintendo’s annual forecast.

“Sustaining the Switch’s sales momentum will be difficult in its seventh year,” Shuntaro Furukawa said via Bloomberg. “Our goal of selling 15 million unit this fiscal year is a bit of stretch. But we will do our best to bolster demand going into the holiday season so that we can achieve the goal.”

It will be interesting to see what their plan is for later this year and early next year software wise. They might have to drop a new Mario game before the next console.

Natsumi Kawasaki said:
The Switch is now six years old, and Furukawa acknowledged there are uncertainties ahead. "In the history of our game console business, we have never seen 10 million units of hardware [still being sold] at this stage," he said. "We are now in unknown territory."
Natsumi Kawasaki said:
To offset the Switch's decline and get back on the growth track, many are calling on the company to introduce a new console.

One is rumored to be due out next year. "Development seems to be progressing well," a source close to Nintendo told Nikkei Asia. "But a product launch won't happen before next spring at the earliest."

God damn and a price drop probably won’t even happen :mjlol:

I think Nintendo are playing with fire stretching the Switch out so long. Its still selling decently but it has the potential to lose all momentum by late this year like the Wii did.

They should have planned to have new hardware out by the holidays

If you look at it, less than half of Switch owners even fukk with Mario Kart like that. It's just not an important exclusive IP. The numbers don't lie. :troll:

Pretty crazy that the majority of the nintendo audience doesn’t care about their exclusives like that :francis:
