Switch Harddrives on PC

I have something on a harddrive from my old computer that i really need to access and I been meaning to get a external case but keep forgetting, yall think I could just switch the harddrive on my current PC with that one and upload the file to the internet and then switch back and not have any problems?

I wouldn't 'switch' them breh simply connect a SATA/IDE cable to it and plug it into your motherboard

one thing to note is that USB 2.0 is MUCH slower than IDE or SATA transfer rates. so if you have a terabyte IDE/SATA drive and want to transfer lots of files, good luck at that max 60 mb/sec speed
