I'm not talented at all. I'm average looking. I'm of average intelligence. I'm not any more athletic or talented than the next man.

I think everyone I meet is better than me at most things, but when I compare our score lines my numbers are better.

I've been thinking about why that is. I believe it's because I accepted I had to be patient and focused when I pursued a goal. I realized that at 7 years old.

I don't have a college degree, I come from an average family, and I've had no advantages in my life. If anything I've had a unfortunate set of circumstances thrust upon me from birth.

Simply put, they gave me Kool Aid and I made lemonade.

If you're talented you're three steps ahead of most people. If you're beautiful you're steps ahead of most people. If you're athletic you're steps ahead of most people.

If a talented person doesn't have direction or drive they'll under achieve.

I'm wearing custom made clothes right now. I'm exiting my house to enter my pretty ass car.

I wonder how I got here. No brag, I'm doing alright.

I focus on developing myself every second of everyday. I don't rely on my god given gifts to take me from one station to another. I will run, walk, or crawl there.

Please have direction in your life. Please take advantage of your advantages.

Drive and direction more often than not will take you further than talent. I'm living proof of that. I've got a lot going for myself because I worked for it.

Also, don't be a hater. All haters eventually fail because they're not creators.

I see this all the time in school. Really intelligent young men and women suffer because they don't have a strong work ethic. They are used to breezing by and then they get humbled and don't know how to deal with it. I told my friend that her work ethic combined with her natural intelligence will serve her as long as she keeps at it.

I have also realized that people mistake "hard working" for smart. I am definitely not smarter than these cats, I just know that I can and will outwork them which allows me to close the gap as it were.

Talent gets you in the door, drive keeps you there opening more doors.

I think people who are truly driven have either had someone in their life that exemplified tremendous drive; or they came from such a place of poverty and bad living conditions that they are determined to make it out of that situation.

Talent is just accumulated practice. Sure, some people are more intelligent/smarter than others in certain fields, but from what I have observed a person that practices his/her craft will, overtime, be seen as talented.

I don't like talking about my own life but I will use myself as an example. I was not good at math in my primary school days. And, often times the teacher would call me out to either answer math questions or talk about how poorly I performed. I hated the damn bytch for it.

To stop it, I practiced on my math skills. Spending 2 hours doing fractions and word problems everyday. Turned my grades around because of it. Got into highschool and excelled at math. Then college where I tested out a bunch of upper level math, and began math research as an undergrad.

People say I am talented, but it wasn't natural. I don't see numbers like the movies present. I just practiced a lot on my math skills.

Once you hit a certain level a person that works hard becomes somewhat indistinguishable from a person that is naturally gifted. Prodigies are different however.

I'm terrible at math. Barely passed it in college, was worse in hs, but like you said, I didn't put the effort into it in order to get better at it. But I am going to have to get better at it if I'm going to help these babies with their math homework.

I thought that college Pre Calc was a different language but that damn Calculus class was something else altogether. "Fail the final, fail the class", no Heroes.

Drive and hard work are a given, everybody has to put that in if they want success. That's the bare minimum and your part.

Someone with more talent and the same drive has the same or more potential, that's just how it works.

Someone more talent and even more drive, will be on average better than the mass majority.

To get that top spot, to be in that special category both is needed. But even more than that, a lot of luck. Circumstances play a major role, whether everything was at the right place at the right time, makes all the difference. The luckier you are the less talent and drive you need. If you have all the talent and drive, but never meet the right people, never observe and process the right thing at the right time, it'll never hit that point. You could try putting yourself in the right position (drive) and have the talent to be recognizable but the reality is it just may not happen. There are just factors out of your control that you need to fall into place. People don't like that fact and it it's hard to accept, but that's just life, and it's not personal.

Skill, Effort Or Luck: Which Is More Important For Success?
The goal then for both career professionals and entrepreneurs alike is to become adept at “hitting singles.” Just get on base consistently. Do your job. Position yourself for the win. Whether you stay on first base, or you hit a grand slam home run is much about luck. You can control the former, not the latter.

However, the only way to guarantee failure, is by giving up.

Dere were quite a few people I went to school wit who were just naturally talented but got lapped up during our years from lesser talented cats who just had an insane work ethic. Not just doin da required work for assignments but goin above n beyond for shyt. Sometimes just for their own personal challenge. Always at da nightly/weekend figure drawing sessions afta school hours. Always in da library. Always takin any opportunity to plein air paint somewhurr. Always hitting up err visiting speaker/artist's presentation who came to visit. Always askin questions. Just always grindin.

And da thing I noticed all dem folks shared in common was dey ain't come from dat same coddled/rich background da vast majority of folks at our school were from. Dere was some struggle behind em.

No doubt being talented can get you places whurr a lot of othas can't but if you don't use it in tandem wit a skrong work ethic/drive....it means nothin in da grand scheme of things. Because you can easily get leap frogged and remain complacent in ya own hype.

See it all da time in mah field.
