Life is Strange takes itself too seriously. It's pretty much devoid of any humor. It's full of melodrama. Tales is way more relaxed and humorous. To me it has an exceptional main cast too. There's a better balance of humor and more serious stuff.
Saying it's more "fun" sums it up perfectly. Not to say that Life is Strange isn't a good game but Tales is far better.
